Six Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital team members have been awarded the Shining Star award, the hospital's highest honor for employees or teams who have gone above and beyond in their daily work, consistently demonstrate excellence through the compassionate care they provide and serve as outstanding role models for our team.

This award is a companion to the nationally recognized DAISY Award for nurses and is open to any non-nurse team member at the hospital, as well as any physician or team member in a local Palmetto Health-USC Medical Group practice.

Tuomey's newest Shining Stars are:

- Jamara McDuffie-Richburg, Home Health, always has a positive, compassionate attitude. She goes the extra mile by taking time on her days off to assist patients who live alone and don't have a caregiver to help.

- Dr. Anthony Godfrey, Hospitalist, is known as someone who shows his concern by listening keenly, has a genuine heart for his team and his patients, and demonstrates professionalism with the entire team.

- Margie Dawkins and Lorren Gamble, Telemetry, made a lot of sacrifices as they held down the fort for four months after a massive personnel turnover. They did the work of seven, did it well, prioritized all aspects of patient care and received zero patient complaints.

- Stephanie Witt, Emergency Department, is the epitome of what a tech should strive to be. She exhibits integrity, intelligence and compassion and embodies the core of what health care is: A deeply rooted desire to serve our community and team members as if they were our own family.

- Frances McCray, Food and Nutrition, is wholeheartedly committed to making each day better for her department. She's always available to step into leadership, constantly learning more about her field and visibly compassionate about - and available for - her fellow team members.

Patients, visitors and team members can nominate any non-nurse team member or physician for a Shining Star award. Five recipients will be selected from the nominations each quarter.
