Two free COVID-19 vaccine clinics available in Sumter County Saturday, next Tuesday

The South Carolina Department of Education will host two free COVID-19 vaccine clinics in Sumter County on Dec. 4 and Dec. 7.
Sumter County residents can receive the vaccine on Saturday, Dec. 4., from 11 a.m.-3 p.m at Wilson Hall, 520 Wilson Hall Road, and also on Tuesday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the South HOPE Community Center, 1125 Lafayette Drive.
Children ages 5 to 11 can receive their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, and adults 18 years and older will be able to receive their first or second dose of the Moderna vaccine or the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Pfizer and Moderna booster shots will also be available.
Only 51 percent of Sumter County residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine compared to 76 percent throughout the nation, according to DHEC.
