This will be the fifth women's program for the school, which participates in the National Junior College Athletic Association as a Division I member of Region X. The other women's programs are softball, golf, tennis and soccer.
The school also has four men's programs - baseball, golf, tennis and soccer.
"Volleyball is an in-demand sport, especially in Sumter," said USC Sumter director of athletics Adrienne Cataldo in a press release. "We are thrilled to be starting volleyball as a collegiate NJCAA sport at USC Sumter."
