Vaccine clinic open at Birnie HOPE Center in Sumter on Thursday

A free vaccine clinic will be open on Thursday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Birnie HOPE Center, 210 S. Purdy St., in Sumter.

Attendees 5-11 can receive their first or second dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Attendees 12 and older can receive either their first, second or booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Attendees 18 and older can receive either their first, second or booster dose of the Moderna vaccine or the one-shot Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine.

According to state public health data, 61% of eligible Sumter County residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, compared to to 76% nationally.
