The Sumter School District Teacher Forum hosted its second of three Meet-the-Candidates forums in the Lakewood High School Fine Arts Center on Wednesday, Oct. 12. The purpose of the forums is to give candidates running for Sumter school board the opportunity to answer questions and explain why they would be the best candidate for their district (or area). Questions were based on surveys to district employees and eventually narrowed down to five.

If you were unable to attend Wednesday night's candidate forum at Lakewood High School featuring those vying for Sumter school board seats in Districts 4, 5 and 6, which are largely the areas representing the city of Sumter, you can watch the forum in full on The Sumter Item's Facebook page. Recorded by The Item's Studio Sumter, the media company's video department, and hosted by Sumter School District's Sumter Teacher Forum. One more forum will be held at Crestwood High School on Thursday, Oct. 13. A first forum was held Tuesday at Sutmer High School, with candidates from the three districts representing those areas at each.
