NEW ZION - The staff at Walker-Gamble Elementary School didn't allow the COVID-19 pandemic to prevent a special graduation ceremony for students.

On June 1, the school held a special drive-through graduation ceremony. Clarendon School District 3 Superintendent Dr. Connie Dennis was present, along with WGES Principal Allen Kirby, Assistant Principal Nancy Moore and the school's teachers and staff.

Moore called out each child's name while Kirby presented the child with his or her certificate. The teachers and staff were on hand to cheer on the celebration.

The 5th-grade graduation was held on June 1, and the 5K graduation was held on June 4.

"It was great seeing the students and their smiles," Kirby said. "They worked so hard, and we wanted to do this for them."
