Walmart to hold free wellness event Saturday at all Sumter locations

Sumter's Walmarts, along with all other Midlands area stores, are kicking off the new year with a free wellness event.

Offering free wellness services and resources in the Midlands, Walmart wants to help customers save money, live better and stay away from the flu in 2020.

Last week, South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control reported widespread flu activity for the seventh consecutive week.

More than 170 million flu vaccines have been distributed this flu season, which is more than half of the U.S. population.

Along with affordable flu shots, Walmart will also offer free health screenings, other low-cost immunizations and an opportunity to talk with a local pharmacist and other health and wellness professionals.

This wellness event is free for Walmart customers.

Both the Sumter Walmart Supercenter, 1283 Broad St., and the Sumter Neighborhood Markets, 343 Pinewood Road and 615 Bultman Drive, will participate in this event.
