Wayne M. Zamora, age 59, beloved husband of Lisa Zamora, died on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Wayne M. Zamora was born on Jan. 31, 1963, in Uvalde, Texas, to Lionor and Vicente Zamora. He grew up in the suburbs of Chicago with all his brothers and sisters, Vicente, Mary Ann, Bart, Richard (Cathy), Ellis, Anna and Elva. He met his wife, Lisa Malcolm, while pledging his fraternity, Zeta Beta Tau, by asking for a kiss to fulfill an initiation dare. They fell in love. They moved to Sumter in 1991. He went to work for Phil Leventis and they formed a bond that is alive and well today. Wayne and his wife bought The Copy Shop and worked tirelessly for the Sumter community for 12 years. They sold their business and Wayne pursued his passion as editor-in-chief of Latin Connection Magazine.

He loved his family, including all of his nieces and nephews, his honorary daughter, Lareitha, and a host of honorary grandchildren. With their family complete, they regularly enjoyed their family group chat, festivals, barbecues and life's adventures, until his unexpected death on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022.

In addition to his wife, Lisa, and his mother, Lionor Zamora, he is survived by a son, Wayne P. Zamora and his wife, Cherish, of West Columbia; one daughter, Manon Zamora Barwick and her husband, BJ, of Sumter; three brothers, Vince Zamora, Richard Zamora and his wife, Cathy, and Ellis Zamora; three sisters, Mary Ann Zamora, Anna Zamora and Elva Zamora; and four grandchildren, Kairi Barwick, Lola Barwick, Mahrley Rast and Olive Zamora.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vicente Zamora, and a brother, Bart Zamora.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Anne Catholic Church.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Bullock Funeral Home.
