Funeral services for Mrs. Wilhelmena Johnson Rose will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 3249 U.S. 15 South, Sumter, with the Rev. Willie Wright Jr., pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.

A public viewing will be held today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary.

Mrs. Wilhelmena Johnson Rose was born on Sept. 9, 1940, to the late Eugene and Gladys Ludd Johnson of Sumter and was the wife of the late John N. Rose.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two children, Betty Jean and Eugene Rose; one sister, Virginia James; and two brothers, Thomas and Robert Johnson.

Wilhelmena departed this life on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, in Sumter.

Wilhelmena's precious memories will be forever cherished by her children: Loretta (Wayne) Taylor, Sally Ann Rose, Gladys (Terry) McCray, Melinda (Byron) White, Reatha (Jerry) Hall and John Edward Rose; one stepson, Morris Ford; 27 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Sarah Rheames, Lessie Dumas and Gardenia Willis; four sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and caring friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.

The family is receiving friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Byron White, 1336 Shoreland Drive, Sumter, from 4 to 8 p.m. daily.
