WILHEMENIA STRONG-FARMER

Wilhemenia Strong-Farmer came to walk this Earth on July 16, 1940, in Longs. She departed her earthly life on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

She was a daughter of the late Willie and Mazi Strong and the widow of the late Jeff Farmer. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was baptized at Freedmont Baptist Church in Longs. She was educated in the public school system of Long County. She was employed by Nightingale Nursing Home Health Systems in Florence, where she was dedicated in helping others in that career for more than 40 years.

She leaves to cherish precious memories: her daughters, Ivia Smith and Mazielle (Leroy) Hammett of Sumter and Cynthia Wells of Columbia; sons, Kenneth Strong of Columbia, Jerry (Tina) Farmer, Jimmy Farmer of Sumter and Christopher (Felicia) Farmer of Richmond, Virginia; five sisters, Margaret Buchanan, Wilhemina Brown, Louise Lyes and Carlean James of Cheraw and Georgia Mae McLauren of West Virginia; one brother, Donnell Strong of Boston; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Farmer; and her son, Freddie Strong.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Salem Baptist Church with Dr. Cartrell Woods Jr., pastor, and the Rev. Robert Entzminger will deliver words of comfort.

Interment will be at Bradford Cemetery.

Mrs. Strong-Farmer will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. for viewing.

The family is receiving friends at the home of her daughter, Mazielle (Leroy) Hammett, 2312 Orvis St., Sumter.
