William "Bo" Davis Sr., 82, was born on May 11, 1938, in Sumter County, the seventh child of the late Walter and Hettie Gass Davis. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2020, at his residence.

He attended public schools in Lee County. William grew up in Antioch United Methodist Church, where he remained active, until his health began to decline. He served in many capacities: usher board, finance ministry, the United Methodist Men and as custodian of the grounds and cemetery, until a few years ago. He continued to serve as interior custodian until recently. William was employed at Georgia Pacific and later at VB Williams, from where he retired after more than 30 years.

He leaves to cherish his memories: four sons, twins Melvin (Violette) and Marvin (Della) Isaac, Joseph Eric (Janet) and Charles (Carelle) Davis; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three sisters, L. Gene Davis and Lillie Mae Moses of Sumter and Elizabeth "Nick" Davis of Linden, New Jersey; four sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is requesting no visitation at the home.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery, U.S. 15 North, Sumter, with the Rev. Marvis L. Stewart, pastor of Antioch United Methodist Church, officiating and the Rev. Raymond L. Cook Jr., eulogist.

The procession will leave at 10:30 a.m. from the home.
