William "Bill" Martin Reeks, age 68, died on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born on Aug. 12, 1952, in Augusta, Georgia, he was a son of Marian June Schmitt and the late William Leon Reeks. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 24 years as a master sergeant. While on active duty, he served in both Desert Shield and Desert Storm. In addition, Bill worked at Simpson's Hardware for 17 years. He was a life member of the NRA and was a firearms and knives enthusiast. Bill enjoyed barbecues, oyster roasts, fast cars, car shows and overall having a good time.
Surviving are his mother, Marian June Schmitt of Crownsville, Maryland; two daughters, Laura Wyche of Clovis, New Mexico, and Jessica Cashman of Charleston; one brother, Wayne Reeks and his wife, Patricia, of Crownsville; one granddaughter, Maya; and his significant other, Alice H. Evans of Sumter.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Leon Reeks; and his wife, Kathleen Reeks.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. Full military honors will follow the service.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at Bullock Funeral Home.
