William "Bubba" Moore Jr. was born on June 15, 1931, in Sumter County to the late William Moore Sr. and Maggie Myott Moore and was married to the late Rosa Lee Baldwin Moore for 55 years. He departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, at Palmetto Health Tuomey.

William was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a painter at E.I. Dupont for 20-plus years and retired in 1985.

William received Christ as his personal Savior and joined Wayman Chapel AME Church, where he was a life-long member serving faithfully in the following capacities until his health began to decline: class leader, trustee pro tem, chairman of the Finance Committee, president of the male chorus, member of the Choralairs Choir, member of the Benevolent Club and chairman of the Cemetery Committee. He was a member of the Catchall Masonic Lodge No. 425. William loved baseball and played for a number of seasons. He and his older brothers met annually to enjoy the sport of hunting wild game.

William leaves to cherish his precious memories a loving and devoted daughter, Zelda J. (John) Williams of Rembert; two loving and devoted sons, Donald W. and Arnold H. Moore of the home; a grandson, Brian J. Williams of Sumter; one great-grandson, Kaelon S. Williams of Sumter; a special and loving mother-in-law, Mary C. Baldwin; six sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; two aunts; his devoted and best friend of 80 years, Mr. Lawrence Kershaw; a devoted friend who was truly like a son, Reverend Charlie Howard; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Vermell M. Morant, Evelina M. Weston and Susanna M. Snow; eight brothers, Charlie Moore, Robert Moore, Oscar Moore, Lewis Moore, David Myott, Hamilton Moore, Edmund Moore and Sam Moore.

Public viewing will be held today from 2-6 p.m. at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Moore will be placed in the church tomorrow at 1 p.m. for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Wayman Chapel AME Church, 160 N. Kings Hwy., Sumter, SC 29154, with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Broughton, pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in Wayman Chapel Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the home, 3825 Horatio Hagood Road, Rembert, SC 29128.
