Mother Willie Mae Slater Scott was born on Sept. 14, 1944, in Sumter, a daughter of the late Willie and Cassie Shadd Slater. She departed this life on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter.

She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated in 1963 from Booker T. Washington High School in Columbia. Mother Willie Mae went on to become a certified nursing assistant and had an extensive career in the healthcare field and retired in 2010. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and began her spiritual walk in Christ at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter. Mother Scott was a faithful member of Enon Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter, where she served on the women's ministry and the petals and pearls ministry.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Monday at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. Scott will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 S. Salem Ave., Sumter, SC 29150 with Pastor Julie Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, 220 Mallard Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.
