Willie Walker Jr. was born on May 17, 1963, in Boston, Massachusetts, a son of Fannie Gathers Walker and the late Willie Walker Sr.

Willie received his education from the Porchester, New York, and Sumter public schools systems. He was a member of Orange Hill Independent Methodist Church. He received further spiritual nurturing from High Hills Baptist Church. Willie was employed at Sumter Packaging Corp.

God, in his infinite wisdom, saw fit for Willie to be rewarded with the prize of the high calling and on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, God called him into eternal rest.

Willie leaves to cherish precious memories: his devoted and loving wife, Essie Walker; a devoted mother, Fannie G. Walker; a special grandmother, Emma English; three beloved children, Shakemia (Trennis) Sumpter, Tiffany Walker and Willie Walker III; three stepchildren, Quincy (Tiffany) Workman of El Paso, Texas, Felix Workman Jr. and Clifford (Kinitra) Workman, both of Sumter; a mother-in-law, Mary Jane Wright of Washington, D.C.; 23 grandchildren; two sisters, Simone (Renard) Williams of Columbia and Crystal Morris-Robinson of Powhatan, Virginia; one brother, Wade Morris of Marietta, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Sandra and Twanda Aull, both of Washington, D.C.; one brother-in-law, Bobby Wright of Washington, D.C.; one goddaughter, Erica Williams of Wedgefield; four nieces, Realyn, Reniya, Rylee and Shayla; one nephew, Seanmartae Williams; three honorary sisters, Gloria Carolina and Cynthia Hill, both of South Carolina, and Bessie Wilson of Maryland; a special cousin, Terry Wiley; a special friend, Sylvester; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Willie was preceded in death by a stepson, Desmond Workman; and grandparents, Jerry and Mary Walker, and Johnnie and Louise Hunters Gathers.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Walker will be placed in the church at noon on Monday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at High Hills Baptist Church, 6750 Meeting House Road, Dalzell, SC 29040 with the Rev. Germaine Walker, eulogist. Interment will follow at High Hills Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the home, 2781 Browning Ridge Drive, Sumter, SC 29154 and the home of his mother, 685 W. Emerald Lake Drive, Sumter, SC 29153.
