Angelo John Sagona, age 64, beloved husband of 42 years to Joan Francine Sagona, died on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at his home.

Angelo John was born in Italy to Peter and Josephine Sagona. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School, New Jersey, and went on to receive his bachelor of science degree from the University of South Carolina and his master of business administration from Golden Gate University, California. He married his beloved wife Joan Francine. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, proudly serving his country for six years and receiving the Air Force Commendation Medal. He went on to pursue careers in hematology and computer sales before retiring as a director of technology for Clarendon School District 2. Following his retirement, he was able to pursue his love of woodworking. He also enjoyed reading, gardening, walking and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Joan Sagona of Sumter; two sons, John Francis Sagona and his wife, Ashley, and Paul James Sagona and his wife, Molly, all of Blythewood; two grandchildren, Jacob and Claire Sagona; one brother, Peter Joseph Sagona of Italy; his mother, Josephine Sagona of Italy; two brothers-in-law, Joseph F. Ott Jr. and James J. Ott and his wife, Lisa; one nephew, Joseph F. Ott III; and mother-in-law, Angela B. Ott, all of New Jersey.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Carol Ann Ott and Marilyn Ott; and his father-in-law, Joseph F. Ott Sr.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at Bullock Funeral Home.
