Lane restrictions from Harvin to Main Street announced

Starting Tuesday, the streetscape renovation project along East Liberty Street in Downtown Sumter will cause lane restrictions from the intersection of Harvin Street to Main Street. Restrictions are expected to last through the end of the day on Friday.

The street will be flagman operated with one lane closed starting with the eastbound lane Tuesday and Wednesday and the westbound lane closed Thursday and Friday. The flagman have been instructed to stop all traffic when emergency vehicles are coming through to give them the right of way.

High traffic volumes are expected, especially on Thursday and Friday, so use alternate routes, as available.
