Sheriff's office arrests suspected arsonist

A 24-year-old man wanted by Sumter County Sheriff’s Office in connection with a house fire Thursday afternoon has been arrested, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
Brandon Cory Dowless faces arson charges after fire destroyed the home of his girlfriend and children in the 4000 block of Livingwood Drive in Wedgefield shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday.
Dowless was arrested about 8 p.m. Friday and taken to Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center where he will have a bond hearing.
More charges could come as the investigation continues.
