On Wednesday evening, Aug. 24, 2016, God Almighty, in his wise providence, called from labors on earth to an everlasting home the soul of Willie Williams.

"Boobee," as he was affectionately called, was born on April 5, 1956, in Sumter County, a son of the late Eugene and Florine Green Williams. He attended the public schools of Sumter County and was a graduate of Sumter High School Class of 1974. He was a faithful member of Joshua Baptist Church, where he was a member of the board of trustees. He was employed by the City of Sumter as an animal control officer.

Willie leaves to cherish his memory: a special friend, Katherlyn Walker; three brothers, Eugene (Carol), Leroy (Loretta) and Aaron, all of Sumter; one sister, Dorothy (Barney) Gadson of Sumter; one aunt, Mary Robinson of Brooklyn, New York; one uncle, Moise Green of Sumter; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Homegoing celebration will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at Joshua Baptist Church, 5200 Live Oak Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Eugene G. Dennis, pastor, eulogist.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the family home, 1013 Dibert St., Sumter, and at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Williams Jr., 955 Unity Court, Sumter.

A wake service will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter.

The remains will be placed in the church at noon.

The procession will leave at 12:20 p.m. from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Williams Jr., 955 Unity Court, Sumter.

Floral bearers will be Joshua Baptist Church trustee wives.

Pallbearers will be Sumter Police Department and Joshua Baptist Church trustees.

Burial will be in the Joshua Baptist Churchyard cemetery.
