Mrs. Alma McFadden Lemmon, widow of Frankie Lemmon and daughter of the late William and Hattie Hickson McFadden, departed this life on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018 at Lake City Scranton Healthcare Center in Scranton, South Carolina.

Early in life, Mrs. Alma joined St. John United Methodist Church. She graduated from St. John Rosenwald High School. After graduation, she moved to Baltimore to work as a cook for the contractor that built the Harbor Tunnel. She later decided to continue her education and moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was employed by the Federal Government as a computer analyst for the Defense Logistics Agency, where she became one of the first operators of an IBM computer. After 38 years of dedicated service, she decided to retire and return home to care for her mother who lived to be 105 years old.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frankie Lemmon; parents, William and Hattie McFadden; two sisters, Clattie McFadden and Dorothy M. McKnight. One daughter-in-law, Eliza Lemmon; and two granddaughters, Patricia Lemmon and Gwendolyn Lemmon Weeks.

She leaves to cherish her memories; one beloved son, Archimedes Lemmon; one sister, Bernice M. Evans of Los Angeles, California; two grandsons, Gregory and Randy (Bridget) Lemmon; three granddaughters, Rena (James) Boone, Gail and Natasha Lemmon; nine great-grandchildren, Shaquisa Swinton, Christopher Mack, Monique, Sabora, Brandy and Taylor Lemmon, Aliza Boone, Amya and Ayden McFadden; one great-great grandchild, Ariah Dennis; one loving niece and nephew, Dawn Evans and Ernest Evans Jr., both of Los Angeles, California; a very special cousin, Viola Nelson; and two very special friends, Lola Brown of Chester, Virginia, and Lois McDowell.

Public viewing will be held on at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. Lemmon will be placed in the church on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at 10 a.m. for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. John United Methodist Church, 10544 Nero Circle, Lynchburg, with Rev. Benjamin Graham officiating.

Interment will follow in the St. John United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at 10 Par Court, Sumter, SC 29154.
