An element of U.S. Army Special Operations Command stationed at Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia, will conduct training operations at Poinsett Range through Dec. 14, from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.
This realistic training is part of routine training conducted by Special Operations Forces according to a news release from Shaw Air Force Base. Increased air traffic including helicopters, tilt-rotor aircraft and airplanes may be associated with this training during hours of darkness. Every measure to reduce the amount of noise associated with the exercise will be taken.
In addition to aircraft noise, residents and landowners surrounding Poinsett Range can expect above-average levels of noise from soldiers using training ammunition and other training devices.
Questions regarding the training can be directed to the 20th Fighter Wing Public Affairs office at 20FWPublicAffairs@us.af.mil or (803) 895-2019.
