BETTY KENNEDY

ROCHELLE PARK, New Jersey - Betty Kennedy (nee Venters), 83, of Rochelle Park, formerly of Badin, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, Jan. 22, 2024.

Before retiring from Belk Department Store in Sumter, Betty was a licensed private investigator who owned Investigative and Security Services of South Carolina. Her career as a security manager and detective spanned more than 40 years, and she worked for major department store chains including Saks Fifth Avenue and Lord & Taylor. Betty was a Navy veteran who served our country proudly. She was a collector of books and enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling and going to the beach. On top of everything, she loved an ice-cold Coca-Cola!

Beloved mother of Linda Bruff and her husband, Jared, and Harry Robert and his wife, Mary Beth; cherished grandmother of Nick and his wife, Sophy, Casey, Randi and her fiancé, Mike, Sarah and her husband, Brandon, and Patrick; and loving great-grandmother of Scarlett.

A memorial service followed by a visitation with family will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. today at Hawthorne Gospel Church, 2000 Route 208 North, Hawthorne, New Jersey.
