CARL R. TOBIAS JR.

The Rev. Carl Raymond Tobias Jr., 72, husband of Deloris Diane Hodge, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Palmetto Health Tuomey.

Born on Dec. 14, 1945, he was a son of the late Carl Raymond Tobias Sr. and the late Elizabeth Geraldine Kennedy. He was the founding pastor of Midway Baptist Church from 2000 to 2017.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years; four sons, Carl R. "Ray" Tobias III, Joseph "Jody" Mitchum (Tammie), Charles Mitchum (Kim) and Tommy Tobias; two daughters, Sharon Poplin (Rocky) and Lisa Bellamy; one sister, Betty Jane Bradley (Richard); and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the chapel of Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene Stokes officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the home, 4434 Wrangler Trail, Sumter, SC 29150.
