Cecil Chandler "C.C." Rodgers Sr., 86, husband of Joann Hill Rodgers for 67 years, died on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020, at his home.

Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Kershaw Rodgers and Ruth Campbell Rodgers Black. C.C. was a former deacon and treasurer of Pine Grove Baptist Church and was a member and former deacon and treasurer of Concord Baptist Church. He was the retired owner and operator of Rodgers Garage Inc. at 2 Red & White St., Sumter.

Surviving are his wife of Sumter; two sons, Ronnie Rodgers (Lisa Squires) and C.C. Rodgers Jr.; one daughter, Patricia Campbell (John); six grandchildren, Lacey Rodgers, Chris Rodgers (Angel), Ramsey Currie, Daphney Anderson, Jonathan Campbell (McCall) and Brandie Henderson; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, John C. "Pee Wee" Rodgers, Odell Rodgers and Harry "Peanut" Rodgers; two sisters, Mary Bedwell and Ruth Richburg; and a grandson, Joe Reed.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Clark officiating. Burial will be at Sumter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
