CHARLIE LOVELY SR.

Charlie Lovely Sr., 78, widower of Catherine Chambers, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, at Oak Hollow of Sumter Rehabilitation Center, Sumter.

Charlie was born on July 19, 1945, in Lee County, to the late Sammy Lovely Sr. and Beulah Walker Lovely.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Willie James Loves and Lavern Lovely; three stepdaughters, Elsie Marshall, Laura Marshall and Irene Dixon; one stepson, Herbert Marshall; one sister, Laney Lovely; one brother, Alonzo Washington (Sylvia); numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Charlie Lovely Jr.; three sisters, Rosa Lee Green, Essie Lovely Graham and Sammie Bell Lovely; and two brothers, Alex Walker and Manzie Lovely.

In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitation at the home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. J. Elbert Williams officiating.
