Chestnut Oaks opens season with 45-35 win over AD


Chestnut Oaks Middle School’s girls basketball team defeated Alice Drive 45-35 on Monday in the season opener for both teams at the AD gymnasium.

Antiyona Roach led CO with 18 points, while Kayalah White had 11 points.

Stevye Sinkler led the Lady Hawks with 22 points. Shakira Singletary had six points.

DALZELL – Mayewood defeated Hillcrest 51-36 in the season opener for both teams on Monday at the HMS gymnasium.

Leslie Owens led the Lady Wildcats with 12 points. Brent Staley added eight.

MANNING – Thomas Sumter Academy defeated Laurence Manning Academy 60-42 on Monday at Bubba Davis Gymnasium.

Lexi Bennett led the Lady Swampcats, who were playing their season opener, with 19 points. Olivia Coker and Brook Bennett both had seven.

MANNING – Lindsay Daniel had a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead Thomas Sumter to a 27-24 victory over Laurence Manning on Monday at Bubba Davis Gymnasium.

Mackenzie Hyder added eight points for TSA while Karleigh Young grabbed 10 rebounds. Clara Burnette had five steals and four assists and Lizzie Silvester had five steals.

BISHOPVILLE – Lee Central opened its season with a 34-13 victory over Lakewood on Monday at the LC gymnasium.

Brianna Jenkins led the Lady Stallions with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Jada Rogers had nine points and four assists and Nicah Johnson pulled down 11 rebounds.

Crestwood High School opened its season with a 23-12 victory over Lower Richland on Monday at The Castle.

Shaniyah Davis, Jayden Stokes and Kayla Williams each had five points to lead CHS.
