Sumter Coroner Robbie Baker is seeking the public's help to locate next of kin for a deceased woman.

On Dec. 28, 2023, Sarah Robinson, 83, died at a residential home in Sumter where she was under hospice care; she was placed there by the Department of Social Services after being transient for quite some time, Baker said.

So far, no one has come forward as her next of kin, and Baker has not found any solid leads when searching for relatives.

"It's sad," Baker expressed. "It's sad to think that she passed away and there's nobody whatsoever that we can find that's affiliated with her."

If no one comes forward within the next two to three weeks, her remains will be cremated.

Robinson was an African-American female, born on Sept. 10, 1940, and she previously lived in Columbia.

Anyone with information on Robinson is asked to contact Sumter County Coroner's Office at (803) 436-2111.
