Dr. Luns C. Richardson dies at his home in Hartsville

Served as president of Sumter's Morris College for 43 years

Memorial services for Dr. Luns C. Richardson, president emeritus of Morris College, will be held on Friday and Saturday in Sumter and Hartsville, respectively.

Richardson, 89, died on Saturday, Jan. 13, in his hometown of Hartsville, according to a news release from Morris.

Services for the former college president will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in the Garrick-Boykin Human Development Center on the Morris College campus and at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Hartsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Office of Church Relations for the Luns C. Richardson Endowed Scholarship.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. at 1214 Club Court, Hartsville, from today through Friday.

Richardson served as president of the Sumter college for 43 years before retiring in 2017.
