HARRY BENJAMIN JR.

BISHOPVILLE - Harry "Sonny Boy" Benjamin Jr., 70, beloved brother of Deaconess Lucile Benjamin Thomas, died on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at his home in Bishopville. He was born on Dec. 6, 1953, to the late Harry Sr. and Jerlean King Benjamin. Harry received his education from Bishopville High School and graduated in 1972. He was a dedicated employee for Bridges Construction Co. after 33½ years, only missing one day of work. He was baptized and joined Elizabeth Baptist Church at an early age. He was a very kind-hearted, fun-loving individual that everyone knew and loved, especially in his family and community.

In addition to his sister, Harry will be deeply missed by his loving and caring daughter, Meliakia E. McPherson; his sons Corneilus T. McPherson (Sandra) and Jaden Anderson; four grandchildren, Malik, Mya, CJ and Justin; the mother of his children, Mary D. McPherson; his nephew, Philip Austin Thomas (Deneshia); and other relatives and friends.

The only visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Square Deal Funeral Home, 106 McIntosh St., Bishopville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Elizabeth Baptist Church, 4986 Camden Highway, Bishopville, with the Rev. Dr. Gregory Jackson, pastor.
