Inspire! Festival's Walk of Art features unique masterpieces by Sumter students

Whether you're walking off a fulfilling lunch or grabbing some fresh air on your midday stroll, take a detour down Main Street in downtown Sumter to gaze at the artwork of talented Sumter students for Inspire! Festival's Walk of Art. Pupils from Willow Drive Elementary School, Crestwood High School, Hillcrest Middle School, Sumter High School, Kingsbury Elementary School, Wilson Hall, Crosswell Drive Elementary School, Liberty STEAM Charter School, Shaw Heights Elementary School, Lakewood High School, Wilder Elementary School and High Hills Elementary School brightened Main Street's store windows with unique artwork for the town's annual festival. The catalog of creativity features neon-colored pieces, miniature intergalactic friends, scenes from under the sea and much more. The artwork will be on display through the end of March, but don't miss out on other Inspire! festivities that are one night only!

Thursday, March 7

Opening of Pathfinders: 2024 Senior Art Exhibition, and Sumter Artists Guild Winners, plus music by Heart and Soul Jazz at Sumter County Gallery of Art, 200 Hasel St.

Friday, March 8

Jebb Mac Band at Sumter Original Brewery

This will be a live, electrifying event that will leave you feeling INSPIRED! The performance will begin at 7 p.m inside Sumter Original Brewery, 2 S Main St. Tickets are available now for $15 on Eventbrite at http://tinyurl.com/mr3bh8hp and also at the door.

Saturday, March 9

"Mood 14" at Sumter Little Theatre

The evening, titled "Mood 14," is a cabaret-style evening of songs and stories from some of Sumter Little Theatre's finest: Carlos Waters, Ann Floyd, Linda Beck, Bri Gray and a few other surprise guests. Delicious treats and coffees from Mya's Kitchen food truck as well as concessions will be for sale. The show begins at 6 p.m.; doors open at 5:30 p.m. at 14 Mood Ave. Tickets are general admission and $25 each from sumterlittletheatre.com.

Sunday, March 10

Talk, Book Signing and Reception at Sumter County Museum

Beginning at 4 p.m., Cecil Williams and award-winning journalist Claudia Smith Brinson will be in conversation about their new work "Injustice in Focus: The Civil Rights Photography of Cecil Williams" inside McKenzie Hall at 122 N Washington St. A free reception will follow with a book signing.

ALL WEEK

Exhibit titled "Cinema Judaic: The War Years"

This exhibit at Temple Sinai Jewish History Center, 15 Church St., is an exhibition of iconic Hollywood film posters from 1939 to 1949 that illustrate how the motion-picture industry countered America's isolationism, advocated going to war against the Nazis, influenced post-war perceptions of the Jewish people and the founding of the State of Israel and shaped the face of contemporary Jewish life.

Museum business hours are Thursday and Friday, 1-4 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The admission fee is $2 for senior citizens and children 17 and under and $5 for adults ages 18 to 64. Admission is free for museum members. The exhibit will continue through the end of May.
