JANICE LEVINE

Posted

Janice Levine was born on April 4, 1925, in Sumter, to the late Mary Eliza Baker and Walter Green. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, at Calhoun Convalescent Center, Orangeburg.

Janice attended various schools in South Carolina while growing up. Once she became an adult, she moved to New Jersey along with her siblings, where she began a career at Art Metals USA. She started off as a welder and, with her determination, worked her way up to head clerk. Eventually, she retired and moved back to Sumter, where she dedicated her time to helping the elderly and nurturing small children. Janice didn't stop there. When she wasn't dedicating her time to others, she felt her happiest spending time with her granddaughter Je'nina, who came to stay with her for awhile. During her stay, they both enjoyed walking in the mall, shopping at Piggly Wiggly, and going to Je'nina's dance recitals.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her sisters, Annie Mae Holeman and Eliza Davis; daughter, Tara Cheeseboro-Levine (Mark); granddaughter, Jenina Sumner; grandsons, Deandre and Charles Williams; granddaughter, Ky'liah Bellamy; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitation at the home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Union Baptist Church, 5840 Springhill Road, Rembert, with the Rev. Dr. Walter Robertson III, pastor and eulogist. Burial will be in the Union Baptist Churchyard Cemetery.

Services directed by the management and staff of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter. Online memorial messages may be sent to the family at williamsfuneralhome@sc.rr.com. Visit us on the web at www.WilliamsFuneralHomeInc.com.
