KATHLEEN VIRGINIA JONES

BISHOPVILLE - Kathleen Virginia Jones, age 86, widow of Captain Gene Jones, died on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at her home.

Mrs. Jones was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, a daughter of the late John David Ballard and Julia Louise Smith Ballard. "Mamaw," as she was affectionately referred to by all who knew her, was the most loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. "Mamaw's" smile lit up every room, and to know her was to love her. She had a green thumb and enjoyed watching her Tennessee Volunteers football. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren and always provided support and love for her family.

Survivors are three daughters, Debby Laney and her husband, Van, of Bishopville, Kimberly Kay Miller and her husband, Bill, of Ocala, Florida, and Kelly Hemby of Ocala; two brothers, Albert Eugene Ballard and Robert Latham Ballard and his wife, Jackie; three grandchildren, Tasha Mann and her husband, Chris, Brandi Clemmons and her husband, Freddie, and Kristi Keller and her husband, Chase; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Phillip Hemby; and a sister-in-law, Berniece Ballard.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Atkinson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Bullock Funeral Home.
