Born on June 18, 1959, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Emma J. and Bernie L. Ormond. He attended the public schools of Sumter County. After graduating from Sumter High School in 1977, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He recently was awarded a certificate as a sous chef, of which he was most proud. He was a past member of Second Presbyterian Church, where he was member of Boy Scout Troop 231. He had a big personality, which matched his smile, sharp wit and his realness. His life spoke for itself. He lived it to the fullest. He loved his family. His nieces and nephews were always a joy to him.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his sister, Deborah (Cornell) Picou of Dalzell; brothers, Bernie D. Ormond of Columbia and Nigel (Jessica) Jenkins of Bowie, Maryland; nieces, Gajarah Picou, Lavonya Ormond, Madison Jenkins and Safiara States; nephews, Mubarak Picou, Lavondre' Ormond and Robert Jenkins; a host of other relatives and friends.
