LUCILLE S. DAMON

Lucille S. Damon was born on Oct. 6, 1935, to the late Murray and Lula Mae Scarborough. She departed this earthly life on May 26, 2018, at Palmetto Health Tuomey.

Mrs. Damon was educated in the public schools of Lee County. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and became a member of Unionville AME Church, where she sang with the Jubilee Choir for a number of years and the Fourth Sunday Choir. She also served on Stewardess Board No. 4 and the Pastor's Pulpit Aid. She enjoyed cooking, watching baseball, "Sanford and Son" and "Matlock."

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: four daughters, Minnie Scarborough and Georgia Mae Damon of Mayesville, Lillie Mae Damon of Sumter and Gloria Damon of Dalzell; two sons, George Damon of Sumter and Freddie Damon of Camden; one stepson, Jackson (Gladys) Damon of Lynchburg; one stepdaughter, Mary Washington of Elliott; two nieces and a nephew she accepted as her own, Christine S. Jackson of Columbia, Dorothy S. Wells of St. Charles and Levern Scarborough of Charlotte, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Rogers of Mayesville and Janie Wilson of Lamar; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends.

She will be truly missed by Dr. and Mrs. James Durant and Lucy Butler.

In addition to her husband, Felix Damon, she was preceded in death by three sons, Felix Damon Jr., Harry Lee Damon and Sammie Lee Damon; seven sisters; and eight brothers.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. Damon will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. on Saturday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Unionville AME Church, 1330 Swimming Pen Road, Mayesville, SC 29104, with Pastor Alvin Webb officiating and the Rev. Larry D. Clark, eulogist. Interment will follow at Union AME Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at her residence, 67 Hugh Road, Mayesville.
