MARGARET MARSH CLIFFORD LEWIS

Margaret Marsh Clifford Lewis was born Sept. 16, 1938, to the late Bert Elbert Marsh and Mary Lee Ayers Marsh. Margaret met and was married to the love of her life, Mark Edward Clifford Sr., for 46 years. “Where one was, you always saw the other — Mark and Margaret.” After the passing of Mark in 1999, she was blessed to find love once again, with Jim Lewis, until his passing in 2011.

Through her life, Margaret had several jobs, including secretary to the president of Campbell Soup company in Sumter and real estate and equine insurance broker and equine boarding facility owner to name a few. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Her favorite pastime was riding and showing her beloved Tennessee Walking Horses alongside her family.

Surviving are her children, Debbie Burnette and Mark E. Clifford Jr. (Anna Shea); step-son, Ray Lewis (Janice); “sister,” Judy Miles; grandchildren, Mark E. Clifford III, Dr. Melissa Granberry (Destin), Brooke Clifford and Samantha Clifford; several step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret was predeceased by her first husband, Mark Edward Clifford Sr.; second husband, Jim Arthur Lewis III; siblings, Jeff Marsh, Helen Tilford, Jhonnie Marsh, Charlie Marsh, Bob Marsh and Pat Marsh; son-in-law, Charles Burnette; and granddaughter, Kelsey Burnette.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, at The Wood Mortuary conducted by Rev. Todd Johnson and Dr. Drew Hines with webcasting available at www.thewoodmortuary.com.

Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, at The Wood Mortuary.
