REL improves to 2-0 with 32-25 win over Pee Dee Academy; Saints cruise past Beaufort Academy

BEAUFORT - Tyrese Mitchum rushed for 252 yards and five touchdowns on 13 carries to lead Clarendon Hall to a 52-33 victory over Beaufort Academy in a 7-man varsity football game on Friday at the Beaufort field.

Mitchum had touchdown runs of 57, 62, 1, 44 and 58 yards.

Josh Black tossed an 81-yard touchdown pass to Kylic Horton. Bobby Ashba had a 2-yard touchdown run and ran for two 2-point conversions. Evan Boyd ran for two 2-point conversions.

Wells Robinson led the defense with 17 tackles and Michael Boylston had eight.

Pee Dee 25

BISHOPVILLE - Robert E. Lee Academy scored late in the fourth quarter to force overtime and won it in overtime to defeat Pee Dee Academy 32-25 on Friday at McCutchen Field.

The Cavaliers scored with 57 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 25-25. They won it when Jett Smith tossed a touchdown pass to Keaton Price in OT.

REL improved to 2-0 on the season.

GREELEYVILLE - Lee Central High School fell to 0-2 with a 26-20, double-overtime loss to C.E. Murray on Friday at the CEM field.

Naquan Peoples, Deondraye Moses and Edward Benjamin each scored a touchdown for the Stallions.

Spartanburg Christian 21

Thomas Sumter 7

SPARTANBURG - Thomas Sumter Academy lost to Spartanburg Christian School 21-7 on Friday at the SCS field in Randy Stogner's debut as the Generals' head coach.

Spartanburg Christian led 14-0 after one quarter and 21-0 at halftime. Quarterback Jarrett Poole scored TSA's lone touchdown on a 1-yard sneak in the third quarter. Matthew Daly kicked the extra point.

Thomas Sumter had 256 yards of total offense, running for 214 yards on 43 carries.

Manning 0

FLORENCE - Manning High fell to 1-1 with a 20-0 loss to Wilson on Thursday at Memorial Stadium.

The Tigers took a 13-0 lead in the first quarter and added a game-securing TD in the fourth quarter.

Jack Owens completed 13 of 24 passes for 114 yards to lead the Monarchs. Darius Williams caught four passes for 79 yards and rushed for 24 yards on seven carries.

B TEAM FOOTBALL

Wilson Hall 38

Heathwood Hall 0

COLUMBIA - Wilson Hall opened its season with a 38-0 victory over Heathwood Hall on Thursday at the Heathwood field.

Clark Kinney had touchdown runs of 26 and 73 yards and tossed a 35-yard TD pass to Owen Meyers to lead the Barons. Meyers also ran for a 2-point conversion.

Connor Hanson had a 16-yard touchdown run and ran for two 2-point conversions, while Blake VanPatten had a 19-yard scoring run and ran for a 2-point conversion.

Miles VanPatten and Harry Waynick led the defense with interceptions, while Hayden Mims and Grayson Alexander both had five tackles.
