Rheatis Robinson Grant, 91, entered into eternal rest on Sunday morning, Aug. 26, 2018, at KershawHealth Medical Center at Camden.

Born on Aug. 16, 1927, in Clarendon County, to the late Joe and Rheatis Hilton Robinson. She confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Cypress Union AME Church. Rheatis moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she met and married the love of her life, Silas "Sye" Grant in 1947. To this union was born five children, James Nathaniel, Bernice, Gwen, Audrey and Linda Regina. Rheatis and Sye opened their home to many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and military families. Upon moving back to South Carolina, Rheatis became a loyal and dedicated member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church for more than 70 years. She has served as a Sunday school teacher of the young adults class, Vacation Bible School advisor and teacher, member of the gospel choir, president of the senior choir, trustees wives secretary, member of the missionary society ministry, youth ministry advisor, member of the Wateree District Association Choir and treasurer. She loved working with children and touched many who will remember her impact on their lives, young and old. Rheatis attended the public schools of Charleston and Clarendon and graduated from Ebenezer High School, Sumter County. She worked at Campbell Soup for several years and retired from the Sumter County Board of Education, where she was a substitute teacher and teacher's aide.

Rheatis leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her son, James Nathaniel (Yvonne) Grant of Claremont, Florida; daughters, Bernice (LB) Johnson, Audrey Price and Linda Regina Grant, all of Dalzell; two adopted children, Percy (Robbie) Weatherington of Chicago and Elouise Aiken of Warren, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four godchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 3855 Peach Orchard Road, Sumter.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 3285 Peach Orchard Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Richard Addison, pastor, eulogist.

The remains will be placed in the church at 11 a.m.

The funeral procession will leave at 11:20 a.m. from the home.

Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park, 802 N. Guignard Drive, Sumter.
