Robert D. "Nicky" Hancock III, 84, widower of Kay Stafford Hancock, died on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024, at the home of his daughter.

Born on May 23, 1939, in the Springhill community of Lee County, he was a son of the late Robert D. Hancock and Josephine Rodgers Hancock McCathern. He was formerly employed by Sumter Radio and TV and retired from XEROX. He was a member of Paxville Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, April Hancock Berube (Michael) of Sumter; a son, Norman A. Hancock (Angel) of Myrtle Beach; a special grandson, Alex; and two granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Marvin D. Hancock, Murdick D. Hancock, Robert D. Hancock II, Fred Hancock, Hallie Brabham, Rhoda Mae Watford, Marie Romine, Grace Dell Hancock, Rebecca Ann Ross, Darby McCathern Jr. and Thomas R. Hancock.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Johnson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, 2630 Trufield Drive.
