Letter to the editor: Sumter, America need a good old revival

Posted

This is Holy Week, so I am giving tribute to my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

You can find His story in the Bible in the latter chapters of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. His story is referred to in many other parts of the Bible as well.

On Palm Sunday, Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey. He had the Passover or Last Supper meal with his disciples on Thursday. Afterwards, Judas betrays Jesus and later hung himself for condemning Jesus, an innocent man, to die. Friday he is arrested, has a false trial, is denied, condemned, scorned, beaten, mocked and made to carry his own cross to where he is crucified and dies. On Sunday, he is resurrected from the tomb, as many scriptures were now fulfilled.

Are we still a Christian nation, under God? God has saved America because we are or were a Christian nation.

God loved David in the Bible. After David became king of Israel, he brought the Ark of God to Jerusalem. He placed it in a special tent he had prepared for it. David offered burnt offerings and peace offering to God. He then blesses the people in the name of the Lord. Then he wrote a Song of Praise of thanksgiving to the Lord. This information and that song can be found in 1 Chronicles 16:1-36. The last verse says - "Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, who lives from everlasting to everlasting! And all the people shouted "Amen" and praised the Lord."

I pray for our country. We have become a "little g god, government"-fearing country instead of a God-fearing country. We need God back in our lives.

We now betray, arrest, condemn, scorn, mock and crucify innocent men while the guilty go free. What has become of "US," United States of America? We need a "good old REVIVAL," everyone invited, in Sumter. Sumter and South Carolina can make a difference in America and this world.
