LIST: Tri-county closures ahead of Tuesday severe weather

Sumter, Clarendon and Lee counties are announcing closures of various buildings and offices in relation to Tuesday's forecasted severe weather.  This article will be updated as more information on closures becomes available. If an agency is not listed, assume it is open or know that The Item might not have been notified yet of changes.

Sumter

Because of the threat of severe weather, the City of Sumter offices closed at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Parks will also be closed.

REPORT POWER OUTAGES TO:

Duke Energy customers – Report outages by texting OUT to 5780, report online at duke-energy.com/outages or call (800) 419-6356. Duke also has an app you can download to report outages.

Black River Electric Cooperative customers – Download the Black River app to report outages. Black River can be reached at (803) 469-8060 or online at https://ebpp.blackriver.coop/mcp/

TRAVEL/ROAD CONDITIONS

Information from the state Department of Transportation can be found at https://www.scdot.org/travel/stormResources.aspx or by using the 511 app for South Carolina. Local flooding and other hazardous road conditions, such as downed limbs, trees and powerlines, are possible. If you have to be out, don't try to drive through flooded roads/intersections. The risk is too great. Cones/barriers are to alert drivers to danger ahead. Don't remove them or try to drive around them.

For non-emergency calls in the city, Sumter Police Department can be reached at (803) 436-2700. To avoid problems related to heavy call volumes, please limit calls during the height of the storm. Power outages should be reported to your respective service provider.

The offices of Tandem Health will close at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9.

All CCTC campuses will close at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9. Normal hours of operation will resume tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 10. Any updates will be announced through the Emergency Notification System (text, email, phone call), social media and the college's website - cctech.edu. 

Clarendon
Clarendon County Administration offices will close at noon Tuesday, Jan. 9.

Manning City Hall offices will close at noon Tuesday, Jan. 9.

The regular meeting of Manning City Council for Tuesday, Jan. 9,  has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Manning City Hall, 29 W. Boyce St.  For information, call Scott Tanner, administrator, at (803) 435-8477, ext. 5115.

Summerton Town Hall will be closed Tuesday Jan. 9. It will reopen Jan. 10 at 9 a.m. 

The regular meeting of Summerton Town Council has been rescheduled to Jan. 16 at 6 p.m.
