Funeral services for Deacon Ula Mae Cooper will be held at noon on Saturday at Goodwill Presbyterian Church, 295 N. Brick Church Road, Mayesville, with the Rev. Nick Cheek, pastor, and the Rev. Franklin D. Colclough, eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Deacon Ula Mae Cooper was born on Sept. 6, 1936, in Lee County, Mayesville, she was a daughter of the late Maebelle Cook Williams and Lee Mack Williams. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Joseph "OC" Cooper Jr. Deacon Ula Mae Cooper was a faithful servant to God. She loved her family, church and community, and loved everyone.

In addition to her parents, Deacon Ula Mae Cooper was preceded in death by six sisters, Beatrice Jefferson, Geneva Williams, Jessie Turner Goodrum, Margaret Williams, Anna Lesane and Annie Lee Williams; and one brother, Russell Cook.

Deacon Ula Mae Cooper departed this life on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024, in Sumter.

Deacon Ula Mae Copper leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her passing: one daughter, Dorothy Elaine Wells of Florence; three sons, Lee Mack Williams and Freddie Williams of Sumter and Derry Cooper (Charlean) of District Heights, Maryland; one special son-in-law, Henry Lee Wells of Florence, whom she loved as a son; one daughter-in-law, Janie D. Williams of Sumter; a special grandson, Deshaun Andre Wells of Sumter, who played a major role in helping with her care; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and a special caregiver, Maxine Witherspoon.

The family is receiving friends from 1 to 6 p.m. at 2017 Bishop Drive, Sumter.
