WALTER EDWARD DAVIS

Walter Edward Davis, 81, husband of Joan Ayers Davis, died on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at his home.

Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Arvin and Frances Hall Davis. Mr. Davis was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Westinghouse.

Surviving are his wife of Summerton; two stepsons, Jimmy Blakley (Denise) and Darrell Blakley (Wendy); a stepdaughter, Crystal Hagins (Robbie); two sisters, Janett Moye and Deborah Frierson (Eddie Coker); a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Ardis, and a brother, Arvin M. "Buddy" Davis.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Zoar Community Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends at the home of his stepson, Darrell and Wendy Blakley, 2687 Tindal Road, Sumter, SC 29150.
