WALTER L. HOGG

Retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Walter L. Hogg, 87 years, beloved husband of Julianne Hogg for 57 years, passed peacefully at home on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020, with his loving family.

He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Carrick High School, where he was an accomplished football and track athlete. He attended and graduated the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, and went on to serve honorably in the USAF for 20 years. Walter and Julie retired to Sumter, where he continued his public service as an educator for 16 years. They attended Mayesville Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Eleanor Garret and Sara Beth Hasbrouck (Ken); grandchildren, John and Rachel Garrett and Asher Hasbrouck; and his brother, Norman D. Hogg.

Services will be held privately at Mayesville Black River Cemetery and officiated by the Rev. Brian Peake.
