MANNING – William Harold Dukes, 84, husband of Naomi Geddings Dukes, died Thursday, March 14, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born Aug. 25, 1939, in Manning, he was a son of the late Curry Sam Dukes and the late Carrie Susan Evans Dukes. He was the owner and operator of Dukes Well Drilling and Pocalla Small Engines. Harold was a member of Home Branch Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years of Manning; two daughters, Sharon Brinson (Anthony) and Tami Wynne, both of Manning; six grandchildren, Kelli Spigner (Marc) of Sumter, Cory Dukes (Erica) of Barnwell, Audrey McCaskill (Seth) of Covington, Ohio, Joey Wynne (Summer) and Jackson Wynne (Skyler) of Sumter, and Jodi Cannon (Kemper) of Turbeville; 14 great-grandchildren, Kaddin, Billy, Kale, Braelynn and Renni Spigner, Eli and Riley Dukes, Cullen McCaskill, Jordyn, Easton and CaraBeth Wynne, Jax and Gentry Wynne and Zannie Cannon; a brother, Eugene D. Dukes of Hartsville; a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Dukes of Sumter; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Billy Dukes; a grandson, Craig Bagnal; two brothers, J.S. Dukes and Curry Cornelius Dukes; and two sisters, Blanche Baker and Helen Rabon.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Home Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Bennie Barwick, the Rev. Allan Glass and the Rev. Leon Winn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 1940 Stone Road, Manning.
