Willie Olden Johnson, 47, departed this life on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at Lexington Medical Center, West Columbia.

Born on Nov. 27, 1970, in Sumter County, he was a son of Wilhelmenia Olden Johnson and the late Willie James Johnson. Willie, affectionately called "Wimpy," was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and was a graduate of Hillcrest High School Class of 1989. Wimpy moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut, after high school, where he was employed by Pitney Bowes, Kohls's and the YMCA. In 2014, he relocated to Sumter and became employed at Air Force Inns, Shaw Air Force Base. He attended Wayman Chapel AME Church regularly and was associated with Church School 5, when his health permitted. Wimpy's hobbies included traveling, fishing and sports. He loved tennis and admired Venus and Serena Williams. He would go see them play tennis whenever they played close to Connecticut.

Wimpy leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Wilhelmenia O. Johnson of the home; two sisters, Wilma (Charles) Boone of Columbia and Wanda Johnson of Wedgefield; two aunts, Shirley Olden of Wedgefield and Barbara Jean Boone of Newark, New Jersey; his grandmother, Rosa Lee Singleton of Vineland, New Jersey; two greataunts; three uncles; a host of nieces, nephews, special cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 535 Duffie Drive, Wedgefield.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Wayman Chapel AME Church, 160 N. Kings Highway, Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. Dennis W. Broughton Jr., pastor, eulogist.

The remains will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

The funeral procession will leave at 1:20 p.m. from the home.

Burial will be at the Wayman Chapel AME Churchyard cemetery.
