CLARENDON COUNTY — Two Sumter County residents were killed in a two-vehicle wreck at 2 a.m. March 3 on S.C. 521 less than a mile north of Alcolu.
Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell said Stephanie Cassandra Evans, 61, and Tyrone Presley, 51, are deceased.
The wreck occurred near the intersection of Zakia Lane and S.C. 521, less than seven miles from Evans’ home.
“The families have been notified and the South Carolina Highway Patrol is working the case,” Blackwell added.
Master Trooper Brian Lee with the SCHP said Presley was driving a 1997 Ford Ranger pickup north on S.C. 521 and Evans was driving a 2005 Pontiac Montana minivan south in the northbound lanes of S.C. 521.
“The two vehicles collided,” Lee said. “Both drivers of the two vehicles are deceased.”
Lee said the collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
