Betty Doris Cook, 93, widow of George "Billy" Cook, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, at her home.

Born in the Cedar Creek Community of Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Gary Marsh and Penelope Peebles Marsh.

Mrs. Cook attended Temple Baptist Church and was the former owner of Plantation Restaurant, which was one of the greatest joys of her life for 20 years.

Surviving is one son, Carey Cook (Barbara) of Rembert; two daughters, Suzanne Hallman and Sheryl Tidwell (Raymond), all of Dalzell; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, George Allen Cook, and a daughter, Mary Etta Cook.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, in the Chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Magaw officiating.

Burial will follow in Providence Southern Methodist Church Cemetery in Dalzell.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home, 4825 Camden Highway, Dalzell.
