Carson Delano Prescott, 89, husband of Doris “Dotsy” Way Prescott, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024, at his home.

Born Dec. 14, 1934, in Sumter, he was a son of the late James Furman Prescott and Katherine Hodge Prescott. He was the co-owner of P & R Fabrication, an avid scuba diver, fisherman, hunter and inventor. He was a lifelong member of Lewis Chapel Church. After Hurricane Hugo destroyed the original church, he guided and participated in the reconstruction of the church building that exists today. If you knew him, you probably have a good story to tell.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years; two daughters, Sandra “Sandy” Waters (Ricky McLeod) of Gable and Kathie Brady (Charles) of Raleigh; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Waters Nesbitt (Frank), Candace Brady Monk (Jacob) and Charles “Chip” Brady III; two great-grandchildren, Whit Nesbitt and Reagan Nesbitt; and a brother, Allen Prescott of Sumter.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Prescott.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis Chapel Church with the Rev. Jerry Watson officiating. Burial will be in Brunson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be L.H. Prescott, Maynard Dorr, Tyler Dorr, Elvin Rogers, Rocky Peebles and Paul Newman Jr.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lewis Chapel Church, 1510 Plowden Mill Road, Sumter, SC 29153.
