Crosswell Drive Elementary School hosts a Title I Community Back to School Bash at Friendship Apartments in Sumter on Saturday, July 19. According to Sumter School District, the free event was themed "Building Stronger Bridges: One Community at a Time" and was created to unite families and neighbors through a day of fun, support and connection. It was sponsored by Crosswell Drive Elementary School as a celebration of the new school year and to distribute supplies to students. Students and their families enjoyed educational and health resources, free school supplies and free books, kid zone games and free entertainment, usic, dancing, and food trucks, community and vendor booths and free food and fun.

"The Back to School Bash is part of the Building Stronger Bridges initiative, which connects diverse communities through collaboration, understanding and shared purpose," according to the district. "The initiative fosters unity by celebrating differences as strengths and creating partnerships that transform neighborhoods into places where everyone belongs and thrives. One community at a time, the program seeks to bridge divides and build lasting connections."

"We are proud to serve our community and bring families together in such a meaningful way," said Principal Dr. Shawn Hagerty. "This event is about more than supplies - it's about support, relationships and ensuring that every child feels seen, valued and ready for success."
