Don't forget to pick up free mulch Saturday at Dillon Park from Sumter's Grinding of the Greens

Posted

The annual Grinding of the Greens will be on Saturday, Jan. 13, from 7 to 9 a.m. at Dillon Park, where Sumter County and the City of Sumter recycle live Christmas trees by turning them into mulch. Live trees that were taken to area recycling centers or left at the curb for pickup by the city through Jan. 11 will be part of the program. The mulch will be free, and you do not have to have donated a tree in order to get some mulch. Mulch will be given on a first-come, first-served basis at the park, according to a news release from the city, but you have to bring something to haul it away in, like a bag or container, and something to pick it up with, like a shovel or gloves.
